The 7th International Stainless Steel Exposition (STEXPO 2011) will be held on Sept. 6-8, 2011 in Shanghai. Running every two years, it is by far the largest stainless steel exhibition in Asia.

Since its debut in 1999, STEXPO has experienced consecutive growth for ten years, and will meet its 7th anniversary in 2011. In last 12 years, STEXPO was dedicated to promoting technical progress, upgrading industry level, exploring application field, strengthening international trade and giving publicity to the achievements of the industry. The number of exhibitors, exhibiting area and visitors saw continuous growth. China's crude stainless steel arrived at 8.8 million tones in 2009, and is expected to surpass the new level of 10.5 million tones in 2010, for which the apparent consumption will arrive at 9 million tones. The world stainless steel production in 2010 is estimated to create the new high of 30 million tones as well. Starting from 2005, China's annual imports of stainless steel present a trend of decline, and in the year 2010, is expected to see a net export of 350,000 tonnes, ending the history as a net importer for years. The stainless steel industry achieved important progress in developing new products. In 2010, the new product lines of super austenite, super ferrite and hyper duplex stainless steels, come into being. The ability of satisfying the demand arising from transportation, construction, energy, oil & petrochemical, household appliance sectors is increasingly growing.

China stainless steel industry in the last decade wins remarkable achievements. It underwent the change of depending on imports to the basic market balance, further to a net exporter. Similar to its overseas counterparts, China stainless steel industry also faces a series of important issues such as technological innovation, product development, quality improvement, concentration increase, increase of application field, strengthening international exchange.

Under this background, the previous six STEXPO events have been attracting great concerns and enthusiastic participation of local and overseas stainless steel or stainless steel related producers. The scale of exhibition has been increasingly growing.
